A REAL MADISON START AND FINISH!
The start AND finish for the 2010 Madison Marathon will be held on Madison’s Capitol Square! We’ve listened to your comments and agree: There is no more beautiful place in Madison than the Capitol.
There are more access points to the Capitol Square so cars will not be backed up getting to the start the way they were at the Alliant Energy Center. More hotel rooms are located downtown so many participants can walk to the start/finish.
What about parking?
All downtown parking ramps will be open at 5am on race day, Sunday May 30. Parking will be a flat rate of $4. Street parking is also available and is free on Sundays. See the map below for parking ramp locations. http://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/images1/downtown.pdf
What about the expo?
The expo will be stay at Alliant Energy Center both Friday and Saturday this year.
What if I have already booked a hotel close to Alliant Energy Center?
The staff is working with hotels near Alliant (Clarion Suites and the Sheraton) to make sure shuttle service to the Square is available for runners Sunday morning.
Will the course change?
The majority of the course will stay very similar to the 2009 route. Maps are now online.
Madison Marathon gear is here!
The Madison Marathon has partnered with Greenlayer apparel to offer an online store where you can browse and buy some quality training gear.
Visit our merchandise page to check it out!
Runner tracking available in 2010
Spectators will be able to follow their runner(s) from anywhere in the world during this year’s race! More information to come.
Chocolate milk at the finish line
Enjoy a nice, cold chocolate milk to help you recover after your race, compliments of Dean’s and Horizon. A Wisconsin must!
NEW Virtual Goody Bag!
You said “go green” and forget the goody bags… but we wanted to make sure you still get some goodies! Soon we’ll post our first-ever virtual goody bag at Madisonmarathon.com where you’ll find all the info and coupons that normally would be in a race bag. But this way you can print only what you want and save some trees!
Michelob Ultra returns as presenting sponsor
More to come about this exciting partnership!
Water station fundraiser!
We’re looking for some great charity groups (or sponsors!) to staff the Madison Marathon water stations. Non-profit groups can earn some dough for their charities and be part of the excitement of race day! We’re also hosting a contest this year for best water station, so runners, make sure you cast your vote at the finish line. The winning station gets an extra donation for their charity! For more info, email jody@madisonfestivals.com
Endurance House returns
The Madison Marathon welcomes Endurance House back in 2010! Look for their booth at the Madison Marathon Expo, and in the meantime, visit them in Middleton or online for all things running (and biking and swimming, too!)
New t-shirt and medal design
The new Madison Marathon participant shirts will include our new logo and will be specific to each event. Shirts are technical and made from recycled plastic. And the 2010 medals will be bigger, flashier and significantly more substantial than in previous years! Watch for the re-design soon!
Help a girl out!
Hi everyone! I’m Jody, your Madison Marathon operations director. I’m the author of your monthly newsletter and part of the race organization team here. After years of working behind the scenes, you’ve all inspired me to slip into my sneakers and start running myself. Read my blog at http://sidelinestostartline.blogspot.com/ and follow my journey toward a half marathon! I hope to absorb all of your collective wisdom, so send me a note if you’ve got some advice!
Charity Partner
The Madison Marathon staff is proud to announce that the American Cancer Society is the official charity for the 2010 Madison Marathon. Aside from offering their DetermiNation program for runners, the American Cancer Society will also help supply the volunteers that work the event. In return for their help, the Madison Marathon will make a donation back to the organization. You can help by becoming a DetermiNation runner or by adding a donation onto your registration fee!
It takes determination to endure. It takes DetermiNation to find cures.
Make every mile more meaningful by joining the DetermiNation team for the Madison Marathon. Join in the fight against cancer by pledging to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and in return you will enjoy excellent pre- and post-race benefits. DetermiNation offers a great opportunity to run for a great cause and help meet your individual running goals.
