NEW COURSE, NEW START in 2009!
To help with our Green Efforts, all races will begin and end at Alliant Energy Center instead of starting on Capitol Square as they have in previous years. This change significantly decreases the need for shuttles which used to run constantly to and from the start and finish lines. It also greatly increases runner accessibility to port-a-potties both before and after the races. Parking at Alliant is free.

In order to alleviate some of the hilly sections, the new marathon course will be run in the reverse direction from past races. The course will first take runners on a trip through the Vilas Park area and the UW Arboretum. The full marathon course will then take runners through the University of Wisconsin campus, around Lake Mendota, and past Maple Bluff and the state capitol.

The 2009 Madison Marathon and Half Marathon courses are now available! 

REGISTRATION RATE INCREASE
A reminder that fees for all Madison Marathon events increase January 1, 2009 AND the full and half marathons will close at 6,000 runners.  Register early to reserve your place at the start line!

NEW RACE DIRECTOR
Madison Festivals, Inc. has named Ryan Richards Race Director of the 2009 Madison Marathon on May 24. Richards - also the Race Director for Ironman Wisconsin. Richards has 10 years experience in sporting event management, including the past two years as the Madison Marathon’s course director.
