Madison Festivals, Inc., a non-profit volunteer-based organization, produces and develops events in the greater Madison community, such as Taste of Madison and Madison Marathon. These events enhance the quality of life for residents, showcase the area to visitors, and provide assistance to local charitable organizations.

Official Charity Guidelines

Requirements*
*Groups that do not meet this criteria are encouraged to participate as Partner Charities.

Status: Official IRS designation as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Must provide tax-exempt document. Secular in nature.

Location: Madison area contact to coordinate efforts with Madison Festivals.

Service area: Must serve the population of Dane County.

Number of volunteers: Provide volunteers to fill a minimum of 100 four hour shifts.

Funds: At least 65% of budget spent on programs and/or services. (35% or less on fund-raising and administration.)

Focus (preferred): Organizations whose focus appeal to event participants/attendees.

Benefits
Fundraising: payment based on number of volunteer and scope of services provided.

Choice of shifts: priority over other volunteers or groups.

Publicity: MFI website link; mention in media articles and interviews.

Promotions: opportunities to raise additional funds may be possible (tips, raffle, donations, etc.).

Partner Charity Guidelines

Status: Volunteers are a vital part of any Madison Festivals event.  We provide financial opportunities to help those in the community who support our events.

Qualified organizations include federal, state and local governments (including school districts) and 501(c)(3) organizations organized and operated only for charitable, religious, educational, scientific, or literary purposes, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.

Service area: Must serve the population of Dane County.

Need: Volunteers sign up individually online.  People do not have to coordinate schedules to sign up together.

What else? Someone from the designated charity will need to fill out a form and provide your federal ID#and return to Erin at the email, address, or fax listed below.

How does it work?  Volunteers check in/out at the volunteer tent for their shift.  We tally the hours at the end of the  event and send your organization (or the one you volunteered on behalf of) one check.  You will receive $8/hr worked regardless of hours or number of workers.
