ABOUT MADISON FESTIVALS, INC.
Madison Festivals, Inc. (MFI), incorporated on April 5, 1993, was formed by the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) for the creation and operation of events for the greater Madison area. MFI started as a 501(c)(6) non-stock corporation and later became an income-tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The corporation was formed exclusively to organize and manage charitable events for the education, participation, and entertainment of the public in the area of the City of Madison, Wisconsin.
MFI owns and operates Taste of Madison, Madison Marathon and Kids Expo. In 2009, MFI licensed and managed the Johnsonville World's Largest Brat Fest . The group also also owns the rights to Kites on Ice and the Madison Holiday Parade.
MFI contracts with Madison-based event management company, Purple Door Productions, to produce its events. Income is derived from sponsorships, beverage sales, vendor fees (e.g.: restaurants at Taste; booths at the Marathon Health & Fitness Expo and Kids Expo) and runner registrations.
